PSI to BAR Conversion Tool
With some pressure gauges only showing PSI or BAR, it’s important to know how to convert one value to the other. We’ve built a useful tool and chart to make it easy.
How to Check Tyre Pressure
Checking tyre pressure regularly is essential for remaining safe and efficient on the road. Here’s a tutorial on how it’s done.
Troubleshooting: Reading no longer locks in place
This is caused by loose dust getting into the gauge mechanism, and there is a quick-and-easy fix.
How Temperature Affects Tyre Pressures
You should consider the ambient temperature when inflating your tyres.
FAQs
How do I use the tyre pressure gauge?
Using your PITSTOP pressure gauge is really straightforward and only takes a few seconds. Simply remove the valve cap from your tyre, place the gauge over the valve and apply even pressure towards the wheel.
Once pressure is applied, the reading will appear on the dial and will ‘lock’ in place until the reset button is pressed. This makes it really easy to take a pressure reading. Click here for more information.
Does the pressure reading remain on display after the gauge is removed from the tyre?
Yes, absolutely. The pressure reading will remain in position until you press the ‘release’ valve. This allows you all the time you need to take a precise pressure reading.
My pressure gauge is no longer holding a reading. How can I fix this?
If your pressure reading does not ‘lock’ in place once removed from the tyre, and gradually decreases towards zero, this is likely due to loose dust or dirt in the gauge.
To fix this, unscrew the hose section of the valve stem to disconnect it from the gauge, remove the internal components, and gently tap the gauge to loosen any dust. Blowing into the end of the gauge can also help. Once the dust has been removed, securely reattach the hose and your gauge is ready to use.
How does the ‘glow in the dark’ feature work?
Our gauges come with a ‘glow in the dark’ feature, making it easy for you to take a pressure reading when ambient light is low, such as at night time, or when the vehicle is inside a garage. To charge the dial, simply expose it to light for at least 10 seconds. Using natural light from the sun is best, but you can also quickly charge your dial using a torch or phone light.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes, we provide a lifetime satisfaction guarantee. If for watever reason you are not satisfied with the product, we’ll happily refund the complete cost of the order. We know you will be, though!
Can I release pressure using your gauges?
Yes, our pressure gauges come with an integrated ‘pressure release valve’, which allows you to release pressure as required for overinflated tyres.
The release valve serves a second purpose. The release valve also ‘resets’ the reading to zero after you have checked your pressure and looked at the reading (the reading locks in place until then.)
